Announcing My New Site, Book of Dog!

By Marnie Kunz

Happy New Year, friends! I am excited to announce that I have a new passion project and the site has just launched - Book of Dog. As a lifelong dog lover, I have always enjoyed reading about dog breeds (yes, I was a strange kid, I used to peruse hundreds of dog breed descriptions for fun). This site is a compilation of my knowledge, with a directory of dog breeds, dog breed ranking lists, and dog care resources. The site also includes links to dozens of breed rescue groups to help people adopt.

My Passion for Pooches

My first job in high school was as a dog day camp counselor and I loved playing with so many different dog breeds I’d been reading about. Since then, I’ve worked as a dog walker and petsitter in NYC, and trained my own dogs in obedience and agility. As an enthusiastic Akita owner, I strive to remain impartial, but of course, there will be plenty of Akita content on the site.

Book of Dog is brand new and I will post new content regularly, with the goal of describing every AKC-recognized breed (and some who aren’t recognized, here’s looking at you, American Bullies) by the end of 2023. Additionally, I will offer more insights and rankings of breeds in different categories - from best apartment dogs to best guard dogs - to help people find the best dog breed for their lifestyle.

The goal of my new site is to educate people about dog breeds and offer resources to help people find the perfect pup to adopt. Each breed description has links to breed-specific rescue organizations for adoptable dogs and resources. As an advocate for rescue dogs and owner of a rescued Akita, I am excited about this new endeavor. In addition to Akitas, I’ve owned other breeds over the years and cared for many breeds and I look forward to sharing what I’ve learned in a fun (hopefully), informative way.

I will also still be writing health and fitness content for my first website, Runstreet, as well as providing SEO writing services to other websites. I look forward to a busy, creative year ahead and am grateful for the support of my friends, family, and freelance clients.

Here’s to the continued pursuit of dreams - no matter how dorky - in the New Year! Best wishes to you for a fruitful 2023. And if you’re a dog lover, join me at Book of Dog to discuss all things canine.
